Born from what the ground told us, built for this community.
Ride Companion grew from real, repeated observations made with the people of Prescot-Russell.
Working on the ground, we saw vulnerable people (seniors, people living with disabilities, newcomers) struggling to reach essential services. Not for lack of willingness, but for lack of adapted solutions.
- ›Medical appointments postponed.
- ›Families worried about the safety and independence of people they love.
- ›People isolated, limited in their movement and in their participation in community life.
These realities pointed to an urgent need: a service that is reliable, human, and shaped by local context.
That is how Ride Companion came to be, with the ambition of offering a concrete, accessible, and deeply human answer.
"A community that moves together, stays together."
The Ride Companion standard
Door-to-door, always
We walk each person from their front door to the reception desk and back. Never curb-to-curb. Never "just outside."
Dignity first
The people we serve are not packages. Every ride is built around patience, respect, and calm, especially at medical visits.
Bilingual without exception
Our community is French and English. Our companions are too. No awkward moments at the clinic.
Family-grade accountability
Every trip is logged. Every companion is rated. Every concern is answered by a real person within the hour.
What they say
Ils ont accompagné ma mère à chacun de ses rendez-vous de dialyse. Le conducteur l'attendait toujours à l'intérieur — jamais pressé.
As a social worker at the General, I've referred a dozen families to Ride Companion. Every single one called back to thank me.
Mon père ne parle qu'en français. Savoir qu'il y a un conducteur bilingue qui peut discuter avec lui — ça change tout.
